If you like to eat, you will love Bend. There are too many great places to
name them all so I will start with a few of my favorites. Stop into Merenda for rotisserie
cooked lamb or chicken, guaranteed to please. The atmosphere is comfortably Western,
relaxed and open. Put on your
finest or stop in wearing jeans, they just want you to have a
good time with good food. Price
is moderate but is justified. A farily
recent addition is The Bluefish Bistro. If you like great
service, great food with great people, just go.The
Blacksmith is another of my favorites. They are a little more traditional
steakhouse style menu set in Bend's original blacksmith
station. The food is excellent,
with moderate prices. Moderate
prices in these cases are anywhere from $15 to $25 per
entrée. Portions are
always ample. If it is ethnic
food you are after try Giuseppe's for excellent Italian
fare. Great wines and great food
is the theme here. You will eat
more than you need because you can't stop! Again, moderate price range. Try Toomie's for delicious Thai food. Prices are reasonable and the food is
great. They make it to order so
don't be shy about preferences.
Of course, no visit to Bend is complete without a trip to the
Deschutes Brewery. This is the
home of many award-winning brews including, but certainly not
limited to, Mirror Pond Pale Ale and Black Butte Porter. I have not encountered too many beers
here I didn't like! The food is
pub style with great flavor.
Prices are very reasonable and service is awesome. The hottes new edition to the Bend dining scene is
the Cascades Lakes Lodge on Century Drive. Great food,
great beer, and great service. See ya
there!
